A Smoky Night on Golden Ears

Had the chance to spend the night on Golden Ears this summer with my friends Chris and Jacob. Some of the standout memories include:

• Jacob eating an unhealthy number of wine gummies to get himself through the last kilometre and me worrying that he was going to make himself sick. 😂
• Not getting any views because of wildfire smoke. Since it was Jacob’s first time up the peak, I offered to show him photos of the view from last year on my phone. 😝
• I accidentally brought a sour peak beer by Fieldhouse Brewing that was 8% and had to start the scramble down the summit just a little tipsy. 😅
• Running into my chiropractor at camp and both of us making pleasant small talk but knowing that it was a little awkward, like seeing your teacher outside of school. 🙈
• Even though I was still slower than Chris and Jacob (which we fully expected), I shaved a good couple hours off my total time from last year. 😎

If you haven’t been up to Golden Ears yet, I highly recommend adding it to your backpacking, or even day hiking, list!
